Y&Z Creations was brought to life when the two sisters Yioula and Zefy decided to make a career change by combining their different backgrounds (business and arts respectively) with their love of handmade crafts.

Growing up the sisters were immersed in an environment with an enormous amount of creativity from their father (Costas Kalogirou) who was a 4^th generation ceramist and extremely talented artist. Yioula was blessed with the ability to draw exceptionally well just as her father and Zefy inherited his artistic aesthetic and amazing color sense.

Their mother, Nina, took a weaving class 12 years ago in Athens, Greece offered by Sofia Tsourinaki and got hooked. Thus Nina, introduced the girls to weaving and Yioula like her mother was captivated. This led to her studying under Sofia as well in order to acquire all the skills required to become a great weaver.

Together with Zefy’s design skills and color combinations the sisters create high quality long lasting hand-woven textiles with a fresh aesthetic. All woven products are handwoven in small batches on a traditional wooden loom using only top quality raw material such as cotton, wool and linen. Though woven textile items are the initial line, limited editions and patchwork are to follow.
